About Me
I am married to my best-friend, Sonya.
We have a cat named, Ace.
We live in Holladay, UT.
We love exploring the American West, and food, and staying home, too.
I am from Vanceburg, KY and lived there for a long time, especially at the beginning. I grew up on a farm there and worked with various crops and cattle.
I attended Morehead State University and received a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science.
We moved to Utah so I could study Artificial Intelligence at the University of Utah.
While at the "U", I was a member of the Natural Language Processing research group.
My research focus was on automatic coreference resolution, i.e., detecting and tracking entity mentions in free text. Which seems really quaint now with the emergence of attention-laden LLMs.
While there, I helped with the design and development of Reconcile, an open source, extensible system for automatically resolving nouns to their antecedents using a variety of classification and clustering algorithms. It was used a Lawrence-Livermore Labs and other research facilities for some time.
I completed a Masters of Science in Computer Science while at the U. My academic CV.
I am a Principal Staff Engineer and Data Scientist at Testeract.
I've also been a freelance professional and technical writer for Dev Spotlight and myself for many years.
Before that I was a Senior Software Engineer at Adobe.
And before that, I was a Software Engineer at Instructure and even before that Autodesk.
When at MSU, I worked at the Space Science Center as a software engineer.
I once played in a band called American Hollow.
I am a member of the Wasatch Mountain Club.
