We love this place, it’s our favorite “hidden” park in Utah (so far). We pulled in campground 17 on July 3rd, ready to rock in the USA birthday with a beautiful background. Unfortunately no sheep this time in the Forest Service land behind the campground.
We forgot our sleeping bags and had to make do with partial wool blankets we bought at the CalRanch in Cedar City, UT. It got a bit chilly at night as a result but we persevered.
We took part in the ranger led “night hike” which pushed us to our senses other than sight and ended the night with beautiful view of the open night sky.
The next day we took in a few of the short hikes around the monument, tried to find some Pikas (we failed, hopefully they still live there) and drove to the top of Brian Head. A gorgeous and relaxing 4th of July.
