Hovenweep National Monument April 2016

We pulled into Hovenweep National Monument on a Thursday evening in late April and slide into the last available campsite in the 31-site campground. S & I were very relieved to get the last spot in the developed campground otherwise we would have had to find a spot in undeveloped BLM land many miles away.

The first time we used Fireside Provisions¬†which is a service to deliver food for backpacking or camping right to your day before you embark on your trip. The food was easy to prepare and tasted good. I’ll post more about this service in the future.

GSENM March 2016

Posting this without much commentary — I remember we were super stoked to get such a great campsite at the Calf Creek Campground in March. Spent some time in the slot canyons of Grand Staircase-Escalante.¬† Temps were very mild, not too hot or cold. We spent some time in Boulder mountain too and the Hell’s Backbone drive.

There are several efforts to reduce or eliminate large sections of this National Monument. Learn more about how to Save Grand Staircase
